SNCR DeNOx Systems for NOx Emission Reduction

We design and build SNCR systems for biomass boilers, waste incinerators, and industrial combustion processes. In Italy and Switzerland, since 2014.

The problem

Meet NOx emission limits without operational headaches

Nitrogen oxides emitted by combustion plants are subject to increasingly stringent limits under European and Italian environmental regulations. Exceeding these limits means risking fines, plant shutdowns, and suspension of operating permits.

Regulatory compliance

Meet the emission limits required by integrated environmental permits and industry BAT Conclusions.

Cost control

Optimize reagent consumption and prevent ammonia slip with automated dosing that scales with plant load.

Operational continuity

New installations and retrofits designed to minimize plant downtime during works.

Technology

How Selective Non-Catalytic Reduction (SNCR) works

SNCR technology (Selective Non-Catalytic Reduction) reduces nitrogen oxides through controlled injection of a commercial urea solution directly into the post-combustion chamber. In the presence of oxygen and at the correct temperature, the ammonia contained in the urea reacts selectively with NOx, converting them into molecular nitrogen and water, according to the reaction:

2 NO + NH₂–CO–NH₂ + ½ O₂ reagisce per dare 2 N₂ + 2 H₂O + CO₂
NOx selective reduction reaction with urea

The reaction takes place within a specific temperature window, typically between 850 and 950 °C. Nozzle positioning, reagent flow rate, and atomization pressure are the parameters that determine system effectiveness and are verified case by case with on-site experimental tests.

Technical data

Process parameters

Typical NOx reduction efficiency 30 – 60 %

What we do

Our SNCR DeNOx systems

We supply complete, integrated systems sized to the client's plant. Every project starts with verification of operating conditions and is developed through to commissioning and fine-tuning.

Turn-key skid-mounted systems

Pre-assembled units built in our workshop, installed and commissioned on site. Compact layout, fast installation.

Urea injection lances

Stainless steel lances with internal-mix air/liquid atomization. Sized and positioned according to combustion chamber geometry.

Urea storage and dosing systems

Tanks, metering pumps, and distribution lines for handling commercial 32.5% urea solution, from the delivery point to the injection lances.

PLC control panels

Automatic dosing proportional to boiler load and stack NOx concentration, with continuous process parameter monitoring.

Retrofits on existing plants

Integration of SNCR systems on boilers and incinerators already in operation, designed to minimize downtime during works.

Spare parts and service

Original spare parts, scheduled maintenance, and technical support on installed plants.

Company

Ecotherm

Ecotherm Srl has been operating since 2014 in the realization of SNCR systems for the reduction of nitrogen oxides, with a focus on biomass boilers and waste incineration plants.

Our specialization is rooted in over thirty years of family activity in the industrial flue gas treatment sector — a legacy of experience that today is entirely focused on SNCR technology.

We operate in Italy and Switzerland with a direct approach: we design, supply, install, and service our systems through a single point of contact for the entire project lifecycle.
